Hello everyone! I’m so happy to share with you this Heart free crochet pattern. It’s so easy to make it, so I Really recommend it for the beginners. I will show you how to make a heart garland too. You can add crochet heart to many crochet projects! I hope you will like it and let’s start.
Materials / Supplies:
You will need :
- A crochet hook.
- A very small amount of worsted weight yarn( wool or cotton).
- Stitch markers (for beginners).
- Yarn Needle (to weave in ends).
- Scissors.
Stitches:
- ch– chain.
- st/sts-stitch/stitches.
- sl st-slip stitch.
- sc-single crochet.
- hdc-half double crochet
- dc-double crochet.
- htrc-half treble crochet.
- trc-treble crochet.
How to work half treble crochet (htr)
Figure 1: Grab the yarn with the hook so that you have 2 loops on the hook.
Figure 2: Insert the hook in the stitch, grab the yarn and pull through the chain stitch. You have 3 loops on hook.
Figure 3: Grab the yarn again and pull it through all the stitches on the hook.
Pattern Notes:
-If the number is written before the stitch 2 hdc work 2hdc into the same stitch. If the number is written after the stitch hdc 2 work hdc into next 2 stitches.
-Repeat what is written in the () as many times as it’s written right after the (). For an example: Repeat (2hdc, hdc1) 6 times. It means that you have to repeat the sequence work 2 hdc sts into the same st. 1 hdc into the next one 5 times. And you will get 5 additional stitches by doing that.
-At the end of each round/row please count how many sts do you have at the end of that round/row.
Pattern:
Begin with a slip knot and Ch 3 (you can make Ch 4), and slip stitch in the first ch. Now we made a small circle. Round 1 : make Ch 2, and make hdc 10 in the circle, sl st into the first st to join.= (10) sts.
Round 2: ch 2 and 2 hdc into the same st, 2 hdc into next st, now repeat (2 hdc) 8 times sl st into the first st to join.= (20) sts.
Round 3: Ch 2, make 2 hdc into the same st, hdc 1 into the next st, now repeat (2hdc, hdc1) 9 times, sl st into the first st to join.= (30) sts.
Now we will make a heart shape. Round 4: skip 2 sts, 6 trc all into the third st, 3 trc into the next st, htrc into next 2 sts, sc into next 4 sts, hdc into next st, 2 hdc into next st, hdc into next st, dc into next st, 2 hdc into next st, hdc into next st, sc into next 4 sts, 2 hdc into next st, dc into next st, htrc into next 2 sts, 3 trc into next st, 6 trc into next st, skip 2 sts, sl st to join.= (40) sts. Fasten off, and weave the end.
We are done. It’s so easy, doesn’t it?!
How to Crochet a heart garland
You should make a quantity of crochet hearts ( I made 10 crochet heart). If you done this, you should make the following:
First, make a slip knot and ch 10, sl st in the first ch, ch 30 Then, take your first heart and reverse the heart, after that count 3 sts from the middle to the right and make sc, next make ch 8 and count 3 sts from the middle to the left and make sc, make ch 15, then take your second heart and repeat. Finally, if you are in the last heart, make ch 30+10= 40 and sl st in the tenth ch then ch 1 and cut your yarn.
