Crochet hat free pattern! You know that I’m a fan of these crochet hat patterns and I also enjoy giving them away for free on the blog.

Actually, there’s a reason for that, these beanies are my favorites because they are super quick and easy to do (that’s one for me and you), they are also an amazing gift for babies, toddlers, child and adults alike (that’s number two), and finally, they make all the family happy (that’s number three).

I’ve made this cute hat pattern using just basic stitches and classic beanie shaping. It starts from the top to the the bottom. I chose to use PINK and white, but you can do it in any of your favorite colors.

Let’s get started with this coral beanie for toddlers.

Can I make it in any size?

Yes, you can crochet beanie hat for all sizes, with any hook or yarn easily.

How can I crochet a hat for any size?

1. First make a crochet circle (the flat circle) by making rounds until you reach the right size of the hat crown. For example: I made 5 rounds = 15 cm for toddler size.
2. Then follow the pattern and make rounds until you reach the right size of hat height – 4 cm. For example : the hat height for toddler is 18 cm, right? then make 18-4= 14 cm. I made 6 to 17 = 14 cm. then follow the pattern and continue until you reach the right size =18 cm.

Hat Sizing Measurements:

Materials / Supplies:
You will need :

• crochet hook size: 4.50 mm.
• yarn: wool or cotton in any color (60g). (I used wool yarn, 3.53 0z, 100 g, 230 mt, 230 yards, 100% Acrylic)
• stitch markers.
• Scissors.
• Yarn Needle.
• Tape measure.

Stitches:

• ch– chain
• st/sts-stitch/stitches
• sl st-slip stitch (Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook).
• sc=single crochet (Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops).
• hdc-half double crochet
• dc-double crochet (Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops).
• fpdc– front post double crochet
• bpdc– back post double crochet
• rep– repeat

Pattern Notes:

-At the end of each round/row please count how many sts do you have at the end of that round/row.

-Ch 1 or ch 2 don’t count as a stitch, and the first stitch should be in the same stitch.

-Repeat what is written in the () as many times as it’s written right after the (). For an example: Repeat (2hdc, hdc1) 5 times. It means that you have to repeat the sequence work 2 hdc sts into the same st. 1 hdc into the next one 5 times. And you will get 5 additional stitches by doing that.

Crochet Baby Hat Free Pattern:

Begin with a magic circle and ch 1, 12 dc in the circle.

Round 2: ch 2, dc in the same st, 2 dc in next 11 sts, sl st to join. (24 sts).

Round 3: ch 2, dc in the same st, 2 dc in next st, now rep (1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) around, sl st to join. (36 sts).

Round 4: ch 2, dc in the same st, dc in next, 2 dc in next, now rep (1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) around, sl st to join. (48 sts).

Round 5: ch 2, dc in the same st, dc in next, dc in next, 2 dc in next, now rep (1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) around, sl st to join. (60 sts).

As you can see I made 5 rounds . but you can make more or less by length.

Change the color. Don’t cut the yarn!

Round 6: ch 2, hdc in the same st, ch 1, skip 1 st, hdc in next, now rep (ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 hdc in next) around, sl st to join. (60 sts).

Don’t cut the yarn, and take your first (previous) color.

Round 7: ch 1, sc in the same st, hdc in next st in the previous round (the stitch under the chain 1), now rep (sc in hdc st, hdc in next st from the previous round under the ch) around, sl st to join. (60 sts).

Round 8: ch 2, hdc in the same st, ch 1, skip 1 st, hdc in next, now rep (ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 hdc in next) around, sl st to join. (60 sts).

Round 9: ch 1, sc in the same st, hdc in next st in the previous round (the stitch under the chain 1), now rep (sc in hdc st, hdc in next st from the previous round under the ch) around, sl st to join. (60 sts).

round 10 = round 6

round 11 = round 7

round 12 = round 6

round 13 = round 7

round 14 = round 6

round 15 = round 7

round 16 = round 6

round 17 = round 7

Round 18: ch 3, dc in the same st, dc in next each st around, sl st in the first st. (60 sts).

Rounds 19-20: ch 3, fpdc in next, bpdc in next, rep around, sl st in the 3rd ch. (60 sts).

Round 20: ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in each st around, sl st in the first st. (69 sts).

18 cm.

Fasten off.
